Extend Your Existing Mezzanine Floor
A Mezzanine floor is a free-standing independent structure that is that can be adapted, extended, and even relocated if required. This helps a business to increase storage capacity and additional work areas or create new office space to support growth.
Extend Mezzanine Floors Upwards and Outwards
You maybe in a position where you have an existing mezzanine floor either supplied by Avanta UK or others in the past and with space permitting you could extend your mezzanine.
If there is enough available height and the floor slab and existing steel structure is deemed capable of accepting an additional load, then it is feasible to extend upwards. Subject to our structural engineers’ surveys.
Certain mezzanine floors will have been designed with extending upwards in mind to future proof the capacity of the building with additional levels of storage.
Extending the length and or width of a mezzanine can be more straight forward, and the extension can be tied into the existing mezzanine floor. Often, the extension is an additional free standing mezzanine floor located directly next to, in front or behind the existing floor. Beams and purlins will span between the new and existing structure and connect the two together at each mezzanine level.
If both structures are to be fire rated, then the fascia can hide any joins so that the floor looks seamless.
If you extend your mezzanine floor to certain size, then you may have to fire rate the original floor and the extension / additional floor. We can advise you on this.
Below is an example of a recent mezzanine floor extension project where the original floor measured 14,500m² and the extension would offer a further 7,500m² for the client to utilise. This culminated in an extra 60,000 box locations, created additional work, and packing areas along with secure storage rooms.
