Carpet Racking
Carpet racking is a specialist form of pallet racking that is configured to enable the efficient storage and retrieval of carpet, or other materials, that are typically supplied in long rolls of various diameters.
Where other forms of commercial racking systems are usually designed for use with standard sized pallets, carpet racking provides the increased depth required to store carpet rolls, as well as enabling easy and efficient access to goods.
Carpet racking is created using standard frames and beams from an adjustable racking system, configured to allow for the increased depth required to store long rolls.
How Does Carpet Racking Work?
Storing carpet within a warehouse, or other long rolls of materials, requires racks that are sufficiently deep to accommodate the items being stored.
Using frames from adjustable racking systems, carpet racking provides the depth required, while shelving is configured to allow for the diameter of the rolls to be stored. This allows shelving to be installed as efficiently as possible, maximising the use of the available storage height.
Racking can be installed in a range of configurations, to allow access to goods from one or both ends as required. Positioning racks in a back to back layout offers increased storage capacity, with access aisles between each of the rows of two racks.
Carpet racking is usually accessed for depositing and retrieving goods using a standard forklift with a specialist attachment to provide the additional reach required. Rolls are loaded end-on into the racking system, allowing for dense, efficient and highly organised storage.
Beams can be decked in a choice of suitable materials including chipboard, MDF, and open / close boarded timber. On the images shown the timber was faced with foam and timber chocks at each end.
Benefits Of Carpet Racking
Carpet racking is specifically tailored to meet the needs of warehouse operators needing to storage and manage long rolls, and offers a range of benefits including:
- Beam levels can be set to suit the size and type of rolls to maximise the use of available height
- Racking can be reconfigured as required to meet changing usage needs
- Adapted forks can load rolls into the racks 'end-on' for maximum storage density
- Suitable for a range of goods including carpet, fabric, vinyl, packaging and any items on a roll
Fabric Roll Storage System
This installation uses standard Pallet racking with banded steel post pallets to store cardboard tubes of various fabrics. Anti-collapse mesh provides significant safety enhancements and allows racking to be configured using several tiers for maximum usage of the height available.
