Avanta UK Ltd has completed a multi-product storage equipment fit out for a major 3rd party Logistics company at their new distribution centre in Milton Keynes.

According to research, online sales generated by UK retailers from international markets are forecast to grow sevenfold to £28 billion by 2020 and already stand at £4 billion a year. The client, to keep pace with this phenomenal growth in UK retailers’ online sales have invested in a further 152,000 sq ft logistics centre to support its omni-channel services for Global fulfillment, delivery management, returns solutions and e-commerce development and design.

Pallet Racking used for storage

The new Milton Keynes facility will employ up to 150 staff, and will also support the client’s latest retail offering which is its Store Development Services, this helps expanding retail businesses to open stores faster with greater control and cost efficiency, and increases sales weeks per store in new markets.

To service the increased demand and future proof the client’s requirements, Avanta UK Ltd designed, supplied and installed the following: -

• Adjustable Pallet Racking – to give a storage capacity of 9000 pallets with associated barriers and upright protectors
• Multi-tier Storage System – consisting of a 2 tier shelving system and mezzanine floor to store 29,000 BDC1 Boxes
• Mezzanine Floor Goods Lift to both levels
• Lighting & Smoke Detection – Including a reconfiguration of existing warehouse high level lighting and New LED lighting to multi-tier structure all on PIR sensors

By Investing in this latest facility it will reinforce the client’s position as a leading provider of logistics services in the UK and it will be a flagship operation. It will enable them to keep pace with the opportunities they are being offered by retailers and e-tailers and further demonstrate the unique choice of supply chain services.

The project was installed (including sprinklers) within 10 weeks, and involved the co-ordination and management of multiple supply partners and trades via our dedicated Project Manager appointed to the client.
