15 Tips to Have a Productive Day | AvantaUK
Need to make your days more productive?
We’d all like to get more done in our days, and here are 15 tips you can use to turn your days around.
1. Get Into a Good Sleep Routine
The first and most important thing to do is develop a good sleep routine. Make an effort to go to bed and get up at the same time every day, and get enough sleep each night. This will give you more energy, and it can help to boost your immune system.
2. Eat Better Food
The food you eat has an enormous effect on your energy levels, and good food will help you to stay healthy and avoid feeling tired and worn out. Eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg, and avoid large sandwiches and carb-heavy midday meals.
3. Stay Hydrated
Make sure you drink plenty of water. Dehydration can make you more tired, so make sure you drink enough and avoid drinking too much caffeine during the day.
4. Plan Your Day
Make a simple plan for your main tasks for the coming day and write it in your notebook. Then you will arrive at your desk knowing what you have to do, and you’ll waste less time getting into the day.
5. Stand Up and Move
Sitting at your desk all day will make your tired and sluggish, and it can also lead to all kinds of health problems. Get up from your desk every 20 minutes, and spend five minutes stretching and walking around.
6. Work in Comfort
Invest in good equipment to work in comfort. Get a desk at the right height, a comfortable and adjustable chair, and an ergonomic keyboard and mouse.
Your environment can greatly affect your productivity, some find offices or closed spaces help them to work more, others find it a hindrance, request partitions if needed.
Walking is the best exercise you can do. You may not have time to go to the gym, but you can always fit walking into your day. Try going for a walk on your lunch break instead of sitting at your desk.
9. Enjoy Some Music
Music can inspire you in different ways. Listen to some lively on your way to work to get you into the day, or some calm music to help you relax in the evening.
10. Improve Temperature Control
Being too hot or too cold kills your productivity, so make sure you have a good heating solution in your place of work.
11. Get Access to Natural Light
Spending your whole day under unnatural lighting is not good for you, so make sure you get at least some natural light into the office.
12. Improve the Design
Improve your office design by redecorating it with calming colours, getting some inspirational art and adding a few plants around the room.
14. Be On time
Make more of an effort to be on time. Meetings get held up when people are late, and this can slow everything down. So be on time and get more done.
15. Use Technology
Technology can help us to be more productive. Use tools that allow you to work on the go, like a smartphone and Skype, online collaborate tools like Google Drive, and better communication tools like Slack. There are many solutions you can use, so find some that work for you.
