Avanta UK Ltd - Case Studies

Avanta UK Ltd (Leeds) successfully tendered and completed refurbishment works at Ilkley Grammar School, West Yorkshire.

Background
Ilkley Grammar School were due to have building work commence on a new building through the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) scheme. The new build was subsequently cancelled and the building(s) it was due to replace now required urgent attention for repair.

Scope of Works – Block K

Suspended Ceilings
Replacement of approximately 200m² of suspended ceiling in corridors and 2x computer labs.


Class Room
Block up one existing class room doorway.
Cut out one new double doorway with matching double doors.

Staff Room
Cut out and fit one new double door module into the existing office from the main corridor, cut out and fit one new single glazed window module, install a suspended ceiling to the full office area and a new floor covering to the full area.

New Toilet and Kitchen
To convert the existing store/service room to create a new toilet area with two wc’s, two standard MFC cubicles, one wash hand basin, air extraction, all associated plumbing works, cleaners cupboard, new kitchen base units with inlaid stainless steel sink unit set in a 38mm work top including all associated plumbing works, sheet up and make good three existing single doorways, cut out and fit one new single door module with matching side windows from main corridor, cut out and fit one new single door to create access to the proposed new toilet area, new suspended ceilings to both areas, new poly safe flooring to both new areas.


Desk Privacy Lap Top Booths
25x Custom made MFC c/w 2mm PVC edging. Supply and fit to existing desking.


Additional Works
All three doors facing the existing corridor to have double vision panels with all glazing in 6.4mm clear laminated glass.


Both the proposed W/C’s to have a wash hand basin fitted within the cubicles.

5.7 linear metres of 700mm x 38mm post formed worktops fitted to the existing corridor area. The proposed worktops will be supported with wall mounted timber battens and steel posts.
