The scope of works included supplying new pallet racking to accommodate 900 pallets @ 1000mm wide x 1200mm deep and up to 1800mm high with 1000kgs load.

The installation took 2.5 days to complete.

Recent figures from Boston Consulting Group suggest the internet accounted for £121 billion of UK GDP last year – or around 8.3 per cent. The research suggested this will grow further to £225 billion by 2016, while the proportion of retail transactions carried out online will hit 23 percent by the same date. Therefore it is clear that the demand for safe secure storage of in particular home technology items e.g. tablet computers (1 per second purchased on line on Cyber Monday in the run up to Christmas 2012), cameras, smart phones etc is essential for home delivery companies to fulfill their retail drop ship contracts. The Avanta mesh security cage range and associated shelving is the ideal solution in creating a secure working and storage holding area within the depots.

In November 2012, Avanta UK successfully tendered for the: – Design, Supply and delivery of multiple mesh security cages and short span shelving bays at a number of depots situated from Aberdeen to Truro. The range of floor fixed cages supplied were based on the standard Avanta Cages 3 to 5 with bespoke stable doors to allow parcels to be loaded onto the shelves and passed out to delivery drivers for dispatch. Avanta Security Mesh Cages come in 6 standard sizes and are constructed using UX 450 mesh panels. Panels can easily be modified on-site if your application should change. Mesh panels with a smaller aperture can also be provided for the safe storage of aerosols if required.

The Avanta mesh panels and the shelving are all held in stock in component form for a quick delivery hence the first 12 sites were completed in 4 working weeks.

The 6 standard mesh cages are supplied powder coated grey RAL7037 (other colours are available
- call for more information) for indoor use. For outdoor use the cages have a hot dipped galvanized finish for weather resistance. All Avanta Security Mesh Cages are supplied with hinged double doors that open 180 degrees, allowing for easy forklift or pallet truck access. Mini Boxes are supplied with a hinged single door with a padlock hasp. Mesh Cages are quick and easy to install and also provide direct visibility of items in storage.

A thriving fashion UK retail distribution centre that had an existing pallet racking arrangement and bulk storage facility within the single warehouse.  The aim of the project was to get the bulk storage off the floor to create a larger goods-in area, marshalling areas and increased storage density.

Avanta UK designed, supplied and installed the 5 x Double sided runs of the market leading Palletstor pallet racking system to store 1000 pallets (1200mm wide x 1000mm deep & up to 1650mm high x 500Kgs max load)

The installation included rack end protection and individual racking column protectors and took a little under 5 working days to complete.

To keep up with current demand to service UK stores, concessions and Internet sales this retailer had a requirement for additional pallet storage within their warehouse.  It was always planned for the additional racking in year 3 of the operation; however the requirement was brought forward due to growth.

Wide Aisle Racking – Adjustable beam racking is the most widely used of pallet storage systems and allows direct access to each pallet stored.

Narrow Aisle Racking – By allowing fork lift trucks to operate in aisles up to half the width required in conventional adjustable beam pallet racking, Narrow Aisle Racking makes excellent use of floor space and maximises the height at which goods can be stacked.

Double Deep Racking – allows pallets to be stored two deep but still accessible from the same aisle. By reducing the number of access aisles and using the space saved to accommodate additional racking, a Double-deep configuration provides a highly space-efficient storage system.

Drive-in racking provides a highly space-efficient solution to the storage and throughput of palletised goods.
By dispensing with access aisles drive-in racking provides a high-density of storage in a given area to increase capacity by some 60-80% over conventional ‘aisle’ racking.

Pallet Live Racking – Pallets are loaded onto dedicated lanes of inclined gravity rollers which are set at a fixed gradient. When a load is taken from the picking face, the next pallet rolls into position, with replenishment stock loaded at the opposite (upper) end of the lane.

Push Back Racking – Pallets can be stored up to four deep and when a load is retrieved the remaining pallets roll forward into position at the picking face. Pallets are retrieved on a ‘first-in, last-out’ basis and with each product having a dedicated lane.

Hazardous Cabinets held in Stock

Storing flammable and hazardous liquids is a serious business!

It is important in UK workplaces that the storage of flammable and or hazardous liquids are stored in a clearly marked storage cabinet that conforms to guidance offered by the HSE.  You can store up to 50 litres of flammable liquid with a flash point above 30 degrees in a cabinet or cabinets with a workroom.  If you are wanting to store more liquid or a liquid that has a lower flash point then you will require a different type of cabinet that conforms to European Standards.

These cabinets are of a welded construction with perforated shelves and lift out sumps.  Certain schools of thought would prefer integral sumps and the use of absorbents as opposed to lifting out sumps full of liquid.  However, conversely if the liquid spill happens overnight and sets maybe a lift out sump is better to hose clean etc.

Budget Hazardous Cabinets

These are the cheapest hazardous cabinets on the Internet that I can find.  They are a riveted construction with an integral base spillage sump.  This range is made to order with a 4 week lead-time.

The choice is simple – Pay less but wait for delivery or pay a little bit more and get a quality cabinet a lot quicker – some of them within 24 hours.

The Orbis range is a dry jointed single glazed system that can achieve 33dB (Rw) with 10mm or 12mm thick toughened safety glass.  Orbis is considered an economic alternative to the established polar glazed office partitioning system if standard sound reduction is required.

Mesh cages are suitable for indoor use in the warehouse or stockroom environment to secure items of value or galvanised cages can be used outside for storing gas bottles etc.

There are 5 standard sizes of mesh cage and the popular mini cage is also held in stock.
